About
South Sound Climate Action Convention is an annual event offering sessions that cover a wide variety of climate action topics including green building, renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, ocean impacts, advocacy, transportation, youth engagement, food waste, reforestation, and estuary restoration. These presentations and workshops are led by local experts in their field and often contain hands-on activities.
Following the program, participants are encouraged to engage in sustained collaboration on their chosen climate issue by forming local Action Groups. A trained facilitator provides support for each team.
Inspirational keynote speakers in the past have included teen activist Aji Piper of Our Children’s Trust and David Roberts, climate and energy writer for Vox.com.
The South Sound Climate Action Convention is produced annually by Thurston Climate Action Team (TCAT), and their Climate Action Coordinating Council, a membership of representatives from local environmental organizations. This year, TCAT is partnering with Citizen’s Climate Lobby for a state-wide call to climate action.
Local sponsors and volunteers make this event possible.
