Hosted by The Evergreen State College | Time & Zoom Link will be available here | This Sámi panel will be hosted by “Climate Change & Colonization in the Arctic: Who are the Sámi?” (Marja Eloheimo), featuring the commentator Ellen Marie Jensen, Ph.D.,  a guest researcher in the Department of Language and Culture at the University of Tromsø (UiT) – Arctic University of Norway.

Jensen is both Sámi from Finnmark Province and American from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Sciences and Humanities  from UiT in 2019 with the study Diasporic Indigeneity and Storytelling Across Media: A Case Study of Narratives of Early Twentieth Century Sámi Immigrant Womenand is editor of What We Believe InJensen also holds a Masters in Indigenous Studies and English Literature from the University of Tromsø. Her scholarship broadly addreses Sámi and Indigenous studies, feminist/gender studies, and migration. Currently, she is a guest researcher at the UiT Centre for Women’s and Gender Research.
