Olympia Surfrider Chapter and South Sound Surfrider Presents: Award Winning Documentary Film Screening: Coextinction

Friday, March 31st 7-10pm | Olympia Film Society
Post-Film Discussion w/ Victoria Obermeyer, Coextinction’s Executive Producer and Videographer

Director: Gloria Pancrazi & Elena Jean / 2022 / CANADA / 95 min Coextinction

Impending extinction comes to a tipping point for one of the world’s most iconic species and ecosystems, revealing the true nature of our interconnectedness. For two young filmmakers, this crisis sparks a stunning journey across the Pacific Northwest, joining activists, scientists and Indigenous leaders, to uncover corruption and stop injustice before it’s too late.

Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network. Volunteer chapters across the world work on issues concerning plastic pollution, ocean protection, beach access, coast and climate issues and clean water.

The Surfrider Olympia and South Sound Chapters recognize that fighting for these issues in turn works to conserve and protect healthy, biodiverse ecosystems and critical species in the PNW, that includes our resident orcas and salmon. Bringing the film, Coextinction, to our community further spreads awareness and education on the importance of their survival.

Please join us for this award-winning documentary film and meet Victoria Obermeyer, the Executive Producer and Videographer.
