Buildings as Climate Action Group Meeting

March 5, 2020 - 5 PM
Olympia Community Center
222 Columbia St NW, Olympia

This Action Group is being formed to push our Cities and County to rapidly implement the top strategies they will soon endorse as part of the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan, which TCAT and NWEBG have been advising on.

We have identified 10 of the top building-related actions in the plan, and we need a team to help push them forward.

The purpose of the Buildings as Climate Action Group is to lead the community in driving solutions to our climate emergency through green buildings policy, incentives and actions.

The first-year goals of the group are to:

  1. Launch a high-profile demonstration project to build 20 carbon-positive buildings by 2025, supported with City & County incentives.
  2. Focus our advocacy on 5-10 actions/strategies from the Climate Mitigation Plan buildings section, to support the demonstration project.
  3. Engage and mobilize 500 people to advocate for Buildings as Climate Action.

Do you want to help with this?  Email Chris van Daalen at southsoundchapter@ecobuilding.org

Meanwhile, you can help us prioritize and focus our strategy by taking this 4-minute survey we have prepared. Taking the survey will give you a better sense of the strategy we have planned, and give us input on where the best energy lies.  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WNCS95Z

We are very encouraged by the strength of the Climate Mitigation Plan strategies, strong support from the Cities/County, as well as our ability to influence them!
