Climate Strike post card
Postcards were distributed at the Student Climate Strike on September 20, 2019, urging the Thurston County Commissioners and the City Council Members of Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater, to expedite the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan, and to find the resources to fund it (see postcard, below).
Students wrote personal messages on the back of the postcards. Here are a few of their messages:
- Climate Action Now! There is no Planet B
- PLEASE! It is so very vital, if we have no earthly future what do we have?
- We need to act on the climate crisis because every childs future is at risk. Sincerely, a middle school student.
- Climate change is the biggest issue today and there are a lot of issues, but this has to happen before anything else happens … so do something about it, I want to go to school after high school and not be worried about how many years I have left to earn my credits to graduate to be a Pediatric Neurosurgeon. Thanks Class of 2022
600 postcards were collected and delivered to the Cities and County. Their strong messages remind us that speedy and bold climate action is not optional. It is THE challenge of our time.
